Mammography
A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast, and the most effective diagnostic
tool available to detect breast cancer before signs or symptoms appear.
Leading cancer organizations, including the American Cancer Society, recommend
screening mammograms every year beginning at age 40. Many insurances cover
the cost of this important test for diagnosing breast cancer in its early
stages when treatment is most successful.
The Garden City Hospital Mammography Department is accredited by the American
College of Radiology and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Our mammography
services also meet all required standards by the MQSA (Mammography Quality
Standards Act) and the Michigan Department of Environment, Health and
Natural Resources.
Mammograms are performed by technologists certified by the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists in Mammography.
