About the Program

Residency Overview

The Emergency Medicine Residency at Garden City Hospital was established in 1985. We are dedicated to providing quality clinical and didactic education to residents.

The program includes: organized weekly didactics Wednesday mornings, grand rounds, case reviews, M&M conference, and Rosen textbook review. Residents assume progressive responsibility in the Emergency Department during their three years. Required out-rotations in pediatrics and toxicology are available locally; time is allotted for outside electives as well.

The Emergency Medicine Residency at Garden City Hospital is Fully Accredited, Initial Accreditation by the ACGME. We can accept applicants with previous medical training.

Program Director

Barry Brenner, MD, PhD

"Welcome to our website in Emergency Medicine training at Garden City Hospital. Here you will learn our philosophy of the education needed for emergency physicians, our approach to discovery, wellness, humanism, changes in medicine, and how we execute these. Of one thing you can be sure, Emergency Medicine now will not be the same in 25 years. How will you grow and always stay cutting edge? We emphasize those skills. If your serious about applying, read the full Program Director statement. It is a true privilege to start and reinvigorate another program in Emergency Medicine after being inaugural PD at Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, running that program for over 10 years, and being inaugural PD at Einstein, Montgomery in Philadelphia. We are looking for residents with whom to share this excitement, rare opportunity to build new."
