Join in on the journey to better health with Passport to Good Health. This initiative is a combined effort between Garden City Hospital and the City of Westland to encourage better health and wellness in the community.

How Passport to Good Health Works

Passport to Good Health consists of six fun, easily achievable challenges. From fitness challenges, healthy eating, mindfulness and giving back to others, Passport to Good Health encompasses all areas of health. See below for a full schedule of dates and challenges. To participate, complete each month's challenge, give yourself a check mark and submit either through the form below or pick up and turn in a hard copy at any Garden City Hospital location or Westland City Hall. Turn in your completed passport pages and be entered to win a special, health-themed prize!

Outdoor exercise in all forms can be good for your health. When you bring your exercise outside, you get the benefits of fresh air, which can improve your mood, lower blood pressure and give you more energy. You also get the benefits of Vitamin D from the sun for a strong immune system, strong bones, better mental health and decreased risk of obesity. A visit to one of your local parks is a great, healthy activity for the whole family! With the current health situation, there's plenty of ways to enjoy time outside with the family. Keep a safe distance with those outside your household and use hand santitizer as often as needed, especially with children playing on public equipment. This Passport to Good Health challenge is about spending time at one of your local parks.

January-February "A healthier you" - Set three health resolutions for the year.

March-April "Fitness first" - Exercise for 150 minutes per week.

May "Relax and Repeat" - Do one thing for your mental health.

June "Eat Fresh. Eat Clean" - Do one thing to eat clean.

July-August "Park and play" - Visit one of your local parks.

September-October "Unplug" - Go screen-free for one hour per day.

November "30 days of gratitude" - One thing you're grateful for each day.

December "Give a gift" - Donate to a special cause.
