Protection from ultraviolet (UV) radiation is important not only during the summer or at the beach, but all year round. While UV rays are stronger in the summer, UV rays can reach you on cloudy days just as easy as sunny days. UV rays also reflect and intensify off of surfaces like water, cement, sand and snow. The hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. are the most hazardous for UV exposure. Try to stay in as much as possible during this time and protect yourself by wearing sunglasses, a wide brim hat, more clothing and of course, plenty of sunscreen.
