Garden City Hospital recognizes that good health takes planning, information and support, and offers a variety of support groups.  Unless otherwise noted, classes take place at Garden City Hospital.

Al-Anon Family
This support group is for family members affected by alcoholism. Meetings are held at 8:30 p.m. Sundays in Garden City Hospital's Allan Breakie Medical Office Building ( attached to the main hospital), lower level, Classroom 1. For additional information, call 313-278-9743.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with one another. The goal is recovery, then helping others in their recovery from alcoholism. There are no dues or fees for AA membership. The group meets at 7 p.m. Sundays and Wednesdays in Garden City Hospital's Allan Breakie Medical Office Building (attached to the main hospital), lower level, classrooms 3 and 4. Stroke Club
Support is offered to those who have an aneurysm or stroke, as well as to their family and friends. The club meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. to listen to various presentations and to promote interaction between people who have something in common. This free group is held in the Rehabilitation Unit Dining Room located on the main level of the Hospital.  Refreshments provided. For more information, please call 734-458-3350.

Diabetes Support Group
Hear guest speakers and get involved with open discussions on new diabetes information by attending this group. Day and evening sessions are available. This group meets the first Wednesday of the month (September - May). Call Community Education at 734-458-4330 for more information.

Eating Disorders Support Group
This support group is for individuals with anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive and binge eating disorders. Men, women and teens are invited to attend. The group meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the GCH Medical Education Center, Classroom A-B. Call 734-458-4330 for more information.

Emotions Anonymous
Emotions Anonymous is a twelve-step organization, similar to Alcoholics Anonymous. Participants are dealing with depression, anger, broken or strained relationships, grief, anxiety, low self-esteem, panic, abnormal fears, resentment, jealousy, guilt, despair, fatigue, tension, boredom, loneliness, withdrawal, obsessive and negative thinking, worry, compulsive behavior and a variety of other emotional issues. The group meets at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Garden City Hospital's Health and Education Center. For additional information, call 734-421-1776.

Focus on Living Cancer Support
This monthly self-help group is designed to bring together persons living with cancer. A nurse facilitator provides opportunities for all to share their mutual concerns. This meeting is free of charge. The group meets the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. in Garden City Hospital’s Allan Breakie Medical Office Building, lower level Classroom 1. Hearing Loss of America (HLAA)
Are you, or someone you know, hard of hearing? You're not alone. A free support group for people who are hard of hearing is held the second Wednesday of the month (September - May) at 7:00 p.m. in Garden City Hospital’s Allan Breakie Medical Office Building, lower level Classroom 1. Look Good ... Feel Better
Look Good…Feel Better is a free, non-medical, brand-neutral, national public service program created to help individuals with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem, and manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence. The group meets from 1 to 3 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every other month in 2012(January, March, May, July, September, November). Meetings are held in Classroom 3 of the Medical Office Building. Nar-Anon Family Group
Nar-Anon members are relatives and friends who are concerned about the addiction or drug problem of another. Nar-Anon uses a 12-step program of recovery adapted from Narcotics Anonymous. The group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays in Garden City Hospital's Allan Breakie Medical Office Building (attached to the main hospital), lower level, classrooms 3 and 4.
