Do you know what to do in a life-threatening emergency? Garden City Hospital’s (GCH) American Heart Association classes can teach you skills which may save the life of a loved one, neighbor, coworker or stranger. Whether you work with children, want training for staff, are a stay at home mom, or simply want to know how to help someone in an emergency, we have a program for you.

Classes Offered

(Heartsaver® classes are designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid and/or CPR AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.)

HEARTSAVER ADULT/CHILD/INFANT CPR AEDCPR-Training_Garden-City-Hospital-(1).jpg
Heartsaver® CPR AED Training teaches adult, child and infant CPR and automatic electronic defibrillator (AED) use, as well as how to relieve choking. This is a one day class. 

HEARTSAVER FIRST AID, CPR AED TRAINING
Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED teaches first aid basics (including scene safety, finding the problem, calling for help), medical emergencies (including actions for choking, breathing problems, shock), injury emergencies (actions for bleeding, broken bones, burns), and environmental emergencies (actions for bites and stings, temperature-related and poison emergencies). This is a one day class.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS (BLS-HCP) – INITIAL/RENEWAL
Healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Content covered includes:

  • Key changes in BLS, reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
  • Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
  • The American Heart Association Chain of Survival
  • 1-Rescuer/2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
  • Bag-mask techniques and Rescue Breathing for adult, child and infant
  • Relief of choking for adult, child and infant

Pre-registration and payment is required prior to class start date. Payment can be made by cash, credit, debit, check or money order. GCH reserves the right to postpone the course due to low enrollment. To register or for more information, call 734.458.4330.
