Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) meets quarterly to review, approve, and provide oversight of research conducted at Garden City Hospital. Individuals interested in pursuing research projects must submit required documentation to the IRB prior to engaging in research activities.

Meeting schedule:
The IRB meets on quarterly on the fourth Thursday in January, April, July, and October at 12:00 noon in the Board Conference Room.

Research Training:

  • CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) This site provides instruction and quizzes regarding history and ethics of human subject protection, IRB procedures, and informed consent. Completion of this training is strongly recommended for anyone undertaking research projects. GCH interns, residents and fellows who complete the course should submit documentation to Medical Education to help meet core competency requirements.
  • SCS Research Course This is a series of self-study modules designed to educate residents on how to design, conduct, analyze and report research. The program link is at the bottom of the Online Programs webpage and is password protected; users can follow a link on the page to request access.
