Making your own breakfast sausage is easier than you might think. Pear adds a subtle sweetness to this spiced breakfast side. Serve with eggs and fruit to complete a solid, tasty start to your day.

Ingredients

• 1 pound ground turkey breast
• 3/4 cup diced unpeeled pear
• 3/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
• 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
• 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
• 1 teaspoon dried rubbed sage
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
• 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
• 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
• 1 tablespoon canola oil, divided

Directions
1. Combine first 10 ingredients in a medium bowl. Shape into 8 (1/2-inch-thick) patties.

2. Heat 1 1/2 teaspoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.

3. Add 4 patties; cook 4 minutes. Turn patties over, and cook 3 minutes or until done.

4. Remove patties from pan; drain on paper towels.

5. Repeat procedure with remaining oil and remaining patties.

Cook time: 7 minutes; prep Time: 15 minutes; Total Time: 22 minutes
